Floating Ice

Your Shot photographer Kelly King knows that icebergs near Alaksa do something strange. The part underwater melts faster than the part sticking into the air, and as a result, the iceberg eventually flips itself over, revealing smooth, glass-like ice. Seabirds like kittiwakes perch on the ice to look for food. Kelly took this image not at night, but in the late morning. This photo was submitted to Your Shot, our photo community on Instagram.
