To the Top

The Nanokado Hadaka-mairi, also known as the Naked Man Festival, happens every year on January 7 in Yanaizu, Japan. A celebration to ring in the new year, the festival involves men wearing only loincloths, cleansing themselves with holy water, climbing an enormous rope, and praying for good health and fortune in the year ahead.
